HOME OWNERSHIP is an integrate part of the American Dream, but for an increasing number of homeless American’s, especially our military veterans, the dream of owning a home my never become a reality unless resourceful ways are found to help those in need.

From every tragedy of someone losing their home because they lost their job or couldn’t keep up with high mortgage payments that turns into an abandon house burdening taxpaying neighbors which eventually becomes a distressed property bringing blight to the neighborhood, the Urban Renewal Project brings hope for the neighbors and neighborhood and most of all a path to home ownership.

Whereas I’m purposing collaborative efforts among nonprofit and community organizations; government officials and agencies, and local businesses and owners, to remodel abandoned, distressed properties into the much needed supply of affordable, permanent, housing in the Chicago vicinity.

The Urban Renewal Project’s path does more than help make the American Dream possible; I believe each renovated home will aid in rejuvenating challenged neighborhoods by bringing a new family to the block, increasing property values and generating spending and taxes that support the neighborhood.

The positive input and enthusiastic responses I’ve been receiving are very reassuring that the Urban Renewal Project is on the “right” path.

Please, keep sending me your ideas and inquiries, and of course the ways you like to get involved.

HELPING MILITARY VETERANS

Based on the January 2011 National Alliance to End Homelessness State of Homelessness report, veterans account for 15% if Illinois homeless and while circumstantial factors vary, homelessness occurs when people or households are unable to acquire and/or maintain housing they can afford. Furthermore, the National Alliance to End Homelessness reports the main reason behind this inability to and/or maintain housing is the scarcity of affordable housing.

Urb Chicago is pleased to be a part of the United Relief Foundation and Veterans Housing Alliance Family & Friends Foundation's efforts to provide housing for Illinois veterans.
